Repeated violations of these rules will result in the user(s) being banned from the community.
USERNAMESWhen joing the forum you must ensure that User names are a real name or an anonymous handle. They may not confusing, misleading, offensive, inflammatory, or in leetspeak and any usernames that are intended to advertise products or Web sites, or including a domain name, are not permitted.
AVATARSAvatars have been updated. Please be aware that Avatars are subject to the same rules as signatures (and our forum rules) as far as content is concerned. Custom avatars are allowed, but they must meet the following additional requirements:

COMMON COURTESY & CRITICISMOne of the most important rules of the forum or discussion community is to be civil. Fighting Fantasy a large group of loyal older fans from the original Penguin editions to our enthusiastic new readers all from differing age groups and we expect everyone to show signs of maturity on the forums, even if the forums is for a range of children's books.
If at any point you find that you personally disagree with someones post and decide to add or offer feedback on their post or a submission to the main website, feel free to praise, encourage or even criticise their comments or their work. If you do criticise, make sure you do it with a valid argument and constructive feedback and be aware of the impact these words may have. Remember the Pen is mightier than the sword.
HARASSMENTWe would like to advise that you must always restrict your comments to the subject at hand and avoid personal attacks on other members or individuals. Unfortunately some forums, blogs and groups allow name-calling, childish behaviour, defamatory, mean, profane, libellous or bigoted comments about an individual and harassment like this will not be tolerated. Persistent flaming or continued personal attacks against a person, company, etc. on the boards in posts, pm's or using code's will get you banned.
Posting that you don't like a book i.e Knights of Doom is technically fine, although in all honesty that is a bad example as it's a great book.
If you are going to post something like that explain and validate with your reasons WHY you hated the book and explain what could have made it better in your opinion. A post that says you don't like an author, artist, the FF editor or Wizard Books will not be permitted.
LANGUAGEFighting Fantasy is an English-language site, so to ensure that it can be enjoyed by our users, all posts must be made in English. This also enables moderators to read them.
When posting comment ensure that you please refrain from profanity, excessive bad language or slang. Sexually explicit text is not permitted. Profane from using bad language as we need to balance the protection of younger readers with the rights of all older readers. Anything you can't hear on the radio or network TV before "the watershed" hours is not permitted. We would appreciate if you also avoid attempting to use close approximations of words that have been added to our forbidden filer list with the intention of trying to bypass this.
We hope all our fans can conduct fun, enthusiastic, civil discussions and get their points across without needing four-letter words to do so.
COPYRIGHTUnfortunately long sections of text or images from Fighting Fantasy 'official' material may not be posted from copyrighted printed Fighting Fantasy publication, or from any other publisher or web site as this is prohibited. Small excerpts of text no more than three sentences of the original source can be posted however this must include details of the usage. Use your best judgment (when in doubt, don't post it) or contact a moderator or administrator if you have concerns about posting something.
If you find copyrighted material used inappropriately on the message boards, please contact a moderator and it will be removed.
TOPIC POSTS and HEADINGSA common frustration of forum fans is that occasionally fans deviate from the forum topic or add posts not relevant to the forum in which they are posting. When posting a thread try to ensure it stays on topic to generate meaningful discussions. For example if fans are talking about the Elementals in Stormslayer don't post a thread about a comet. Threads that are off-topic will either be closed to new posts, deleted, or moved to the an appropriate forum.
As we are a Fighting Fantasy forum, we expect topics to stay Fighting Fantasy related. We expect that many of you may want to be limited in what you discuss so we have added an off-topic area to chat about a new film, your favourite band, a tav series etc. If you want to discuss these please direct your threads and posts in the appropriate forum. If you have a question or comment that you need answering regarding a technical issues with forum, a problem with a member, don't post that in a new thread or post it within the forum. Send a private message (PM) to the ffeditor or email the ffeditor.
When creating a new Topic ensure that you take the time to make your thread's title descriptive so that fans know and have an idea of its contents. This is really important when assisting another fan escape the Maze of Zagor or posting a spoiler, especially in the case of a new book that people have not yet completed.
Some examples of bad titles: "Great Book" or "Great Artist" or "Why not?."
Some examples of good titles: "Sorcery! 1: The Shamutanti Hills - Reviews" or "Bloodbones - Polls?"
Lastly, before posting ensure you remember these quick rules:
1) Search or check to see if another fan has started a similar one.
2) Avoid excessive changes in text.
3) Avoid excessive CAPITALS AS IT CAN BE DIFFICULT TO READ.
4) Signatures must be limited to two lines with no links. Failure to comely will results in removal of the signature and a warning.
5) Post may not include chatspeak (SMS or Textspeak), leetspeak, all lowercase or all uppercase letters or StudLyCaPs (where letters are capitalised and not capitalised for no reason).
6) Do not Post pad to improve ranking by adding little or no comment such as "Really?" or Me too" or double posting.
MULTIPLE ACCOUNTSIf we catch you with multiple accounts for other reasons, the secondary account will be banned and you will receive a private message asking for an explanation. If it is, for example, a sibling, or a friend posting from your place of residence, we will lift the ban on the second account. If the second account does nothing but cause trouble, it will be re-banned and the primary account will receive an official warning.
THOSE DAMN ORCSThose damn Orcs is a definition, which highlights any posts which has NOTHING to do with the topic at hand and immediately start to derail a thread from its original purpose. We discourage against this type of posting. If you feel the need to post entirely off the topic, create a new thread for your new discussion.
Those damn Orcs also includes posts that aggravate a person or group and these are sometimes referred to as "flamebaiting," These posts will always receive some type of warning.
BANNING If you are banned and create a new account, it will be banned immediately, please contact the moderator or administrator via email to discuss the terms of your banning.
INAPPROPRIATE CONTENTContrary to what some may think, freedom of speech does not give you or anyone else the right to say anything you want, anywhere you want, about anyone you want. While we want you to create topics that create discussion, sometimes heated, there are some topics that are inappropriate and behaviours that are not acceptable upon the forum and topics and posts with inappropriate material will be deleted and troublesome user warned or banned.
Inappropriate topics that cannot be discussed :

To outline a query on the old FF Forum, any fan can discuss emulation, however links to emulators or ROM files IS NOT allowed.
Linking to inappropriate content is not allowed and we will not condone those that post it. All members should refrain from including references to such topics in their signatures, as well as in posts and all members posting topics or posts that include such content will be immediately receive an official ILLEGAL CONTENT WARNING.
WEBSITE LINKSThis forum may not be used to advertise or promote other forums or websites, etc unless the forum, site, etc has been authorised to be advertised here and is available on the existing appropriate web-links upon the official website. If in doubt ask the website editor at
dave@fightingfantasy.com. Fightingfantasy authors, artists, and other contributors may also post news items about their sites.
FF and AFF ROLE-PLAYINGMany fans like using the forum as a means to participate in a FF or AFF role-playing game with other fans. As a result, a specific role-playing forum has been created and if requested can be restricted to a group. Any role-playing threads or posts in non-role-playing forums will be deleted. Within a role-playing forum, 'out of character' posts must be labeled as 'OOC.'
When joining an Role-Playing thread, please read the rules set down by the thread master or gamesmaster. They will generally outline the setting, plot and background and will specify whether you can jump right in. Not adhering to the thread master's rules and breaking them is considered disrespectful, so please avoid it.
MEMBER POSTINGSRead the new Website and Forum T&C's in the downloads area of the website. However, the posts of users are the sole responsibility and liability of the author, and not that of Fighting Fantasy.
Thank you that concludes the list of rules and regulations at Fightingfantasy.com
If you see another member breaking one of these rules, please use the post report function as this will flag the user in question to the administrator of moderator. There is a button at the bottom left of every post which will access this function. PLEASE ONLY REPORT POSTS WHICH ARE LEGITIMATELY BREAKING THE RULES - for example posting links to other sites and/or requesting you join another forum. Unnecessary post reports may be ignored.
If you receive a warning for any reason and would like an explanation, feel free to respond to the warning if you receive one. I, or a moderator will be happy to explain why you have been warned or banned for a limited time.
