Publisher: Aspyr Developer: Big Blue Bubble Platform: Nintendo DS Release Date: 26 October 2009 (North America only) Europe & Rest of the World in 2010
Take a look at these exclusive FightingFantasy.com video feed, screens and concept art for the DS version of The Warlock of Firetop Mountain which is scheduled to appear in time for Christmas!
Developed by Big Blue Bubble and published by Aspyr, Warlock DS is a graphic version of the original FF book. The adventure starts at Stonebridge, where the background is related, and you receive your training, then moves on to Firetop Mountain where your quest is to track down and defeat Zagor and make off with his chest of treasure.
The format is first-person FRP with the top screen showing your location in 3D. Navigation is by using the D-pad along with the stylus on the bottom screen. The lower screen is also used to load up items (weapons, potions etc) for quick access.
If you think this’ll be easy because you’ve already discovered how to get through Firetop Mountain, think again. Zagor has re-developed his dungeon especially for this version of the first Fighting Fantasy adventure! All the old favourites are there, but BBB have managed to squeeze in lots of new stuff: new characters, new weapons, spells, magic items, tricks, traps, creatures, Maps and mini-games. This is Firetop Mountain like you’ve never seen it before!
We’ve seen the final build of the game. The graphics are stunning and the 3D engine is incredibly smooth. Check out these screenshots. For a full description of the game, click the Link to get to Big Blue Bubble’s site.
